Garswood Rambling Club
Introduction
Top of Page.

History: Garswood Rambling Club (formerly Simms Road Inn Rambling Club) was formed in April 1988 by Neil Moses and Gil Cross with an initial membership of around twenty five, many of whom are still members.  The club changed its name in 1998 and currently meets at Garswood Labour Club.

Rambles : The Club organizes rambles on two Sundays per month, travelling by car on one and by coach on the other.  In the summer months a mid-week “Train Ramble” is arranged. All walks have a club member acting as leader.  The areas visited include the Lake District, Peak District, Snowdonia, Yorkshire Dales and the Pennines.  If time permits there is usually an opportunity to look around the destination or visit a tea-room/pub.

Coach Rambles are  held on the last Sunday of each month (except December), There are usually “A”, “B” and “C” grade walks arranged.

Car Rambles are held on the second Sunday of each month. Members share cars and make a contribution  to the cost of petrol.  The walk is usually of “C” standard.

Meetings are held at 8.00pm at Garswood Labour Club on the first Wednesday of every month.  Details of the walks for the month are given at the meeting and bookings for the Coach Ramble are taken.  The December meeting is the Annual General Meeting.
